2.Benjy relies on his childhood memories and feelings of nostalgia because they were times of happiness and they were much more carefree. His disability was also accepted when he was a child because his siblings were also young and immature, but now as a full grown adult his disabilities only put much more stress on his family.
3.Benjy is symbolic of all of his family’s failures and all of the burdens that are put upon the family. He didn't choose his fate, much like how the compsons didn't choose to fail.
good, but develop further and give examples, where does he see the approaching destruction of the compsons?
ReplyDeleteI don't think Benjy has any idea of the oncoming downfall of the Compsons. He can barely comprehend the little thing happening in the world around him, how could he possibly be aware of something so far above his head, especially when none of his family members do? I think Benjy's narration style can make him seem somewhat prophetic, but it is simply because we are unused to a narrator that has no emotions or biases.
